The original Xin Rong Ji opened in Linhai, in Zhejiang province, in 1995. Over the years, the high-end restaurant brand has grown into one of the most successful of its kind in China, with dozens of branches and, at its Xinyuan South Road branch in Beijing, three Michelin stars. The Hong Kong location is no slouch, itself awarded a Michelin star one year after its 2018 opening. The Taizhou cuisine here is better than almost anywhere – save, perhaps, the flagship location in Beijing. The menu celebrates seasonal produce, with dishes created using a handful of ingredients, allowing the natural flavours to shine. The yellow croaker soup remains as impressive as ever and the roast duck should not be missed.
