One of the most visually impressive openings of the last two years, Magistracy has such a stunning design scheme, it almost threatens to overshadow the food. Here, plush red-leather booths, high ceilings and an Edwardian vibe set the tone for a night of fine dining. The menu is short and to the point – half a dozen starters and mains each, with a slightly larger number of sides and separate seafood options. This laser focus works in the restaurant's favour as each course is delivered with aplomb. It's hard to argue against ordering the short rib but consider the Dover sole meuniere for two.
