The original Xin Rong Ji opened in Linhai, in Zhejiang province, in 1995. More than 30 years later, the group has dozens of branches across China and its Xinyuan South Road outpost in Beijing has also earned three Michelin stars. The Hong Kong location, recipient of various accolades itself, more than holds its own. The Taizhou cooking here is among the best you will find – save, perhaps, the flagship location in Beijing. The menu celebrates seasonal produce, with dishes created using a handful of ingredients, allowing the natural flavours to shine. The yellow croaker soup remains a benchmark and the roast duck is another that should not be missed.
