Cary Docherty’s return to Lobster Bar and Grill nearly two years ago has helped reinvigorate the storied establishment. After Docherty left in 2022, the venue lost some of its edge but all is right with the world again. The brasserie classics are top notch, whether it’s the perfectly moist beef Wellington, the subtly sweet and sour Dover sole meunière, or something as simple as the fish burger, which, with its panko-crusted Alaskan pollock and steamed brioche bun, ranks as one of the most tempting items of “junk food” in the entire city. Elsewhere, the iconic seafood tower remains a highlight. The pastas, too, deserve a shout out for being expertly cooked. The Boston lobster risotto, blue lobster fettuccine, and the spaghetti aglio e olio put to shame many dedicated pasta bar offerings.
