The Mira hotel is an often-overlooked treasure, offering an air of casual chic that sets it apart from neighbourhood giants like The Peninsula and Rosewood. Whisk, the hotel’s excellent modern European restaurant, mirrors this understated elegance. New chef de cuisine Sheldon Fonseca has big shoes to fill, following William Lau, recipient of 100 Top Tables' Rising Star award in 2023, but he is doing a fine job maintaining the same quality. Whisk provides a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere for adventurous palates. Plant-based menus are readily available, and the seasonally changing offerings ensure a constant stream of surprises. Recent stand-outs include guinea fowl with kabocha squash, morello cherry and shogayaki; and bouchot mussels accompanied by genmai, chawanmushi and sauce du Mont Saint-Michel.
