Roganic always felt out of place in Sino Plaza. The highly regarded British restaurant had an approachable air but its fine dining credentials were at odds with neighbours like Isa Boutique. It was no surprise that after five years there, Simon Rogan opted to move to a more upmarket address on the other side of Causeway Bay in Lee Gardens. The new location opened early this year and while the digs have changed, much else is the same. The commitment to sustainability is still there with eco-conscious interiors made with reclaimed marble and locally sourced wood, as well as local and seasonable ingredients. The food remains excellent, though the menu has shifted towards a sharing format. New highlights include Nantau tomatoes in perilla and coal with fermented pistachio and winter shoots, and dry aged Guangdong duck, roasted in 100 flower honey and braised leg with pickled walnut. A vegetarian menu is available on request.
