The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre might not spring to mind as a culinary destination. Yet, within its vast halls is Moon Bay, a restaurant that defies expectations, not least its location’s unusual sense of spaciousness, a luxury often absent in the crowded landscape of Hong Kong. As for the menu, expect a journey through Cantonese cuisine, with a particular emphasis on time-honoured classics – indeed, a full page dedicated to shark’s fin options speaks volumes about the restaurant’s commitment to tradition – for better or worse. Whatever they choose to order, diners should find themselves captivated by Moon Bay’s dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients. The jet-fresh seafood is a must-try, as is the stir-fried diced M8 Wagyu beef, expertly prepared with organic black garlic, and the wok-fried fresh crabmeat, a flavoursome dish loaded with crab roe and Chinese kale.
