Having achieved resounding success with Chaat, a restaurant that redefined Indian cuisine in Hong Kong, chef Manav Tuli faced the challenge of surpassing his own achievements. Leela has proved a resounding success since opening in 2024, elevating Indian dining once more – this time by focusing on the refined artistry of India’s imperial cuisine and drawing inspiration from the Mauryan era. Designed by André Fu, the restaurant exudes understated elegance, while a meticulous emphasis on quality shines through in the sourcing of organic and GMO-free ingredients, prioritising local suppliers whenever possible. The menu is updated regularly and boasts a number of exquisite signatures – such as the gamy Badami French guinea fowl – although the smoked butter chicken, optionally flambéed with Laphroaig whisky for extra oomph, truly reigns supreme.
