Jim Löfdahl has championed Nordic cuisine in Hong Kong since co-founding Frantzén’s Kitchen in 2016. After five successful years, Frantzén’s closed but Löfdahl wasn’t finished. He took over the same spot in Sheung Wan and opened his new vision, Embla, in 2022. While the former restaurant incorporated Asian influences, Embla offers a largely Nordic experience. Choose exceptional dishes like gubbröra – a Swedish starter blending smoked eel, pickled herring, eggs, dill, chives and crisp bread – or celeriac fondant with preserved truffles, lapsang tea scented with pea soy and a fermented onion bouillon. End on a sweet note with salted caramel ice cream, chocolate cream, cocoa soil, bitter oil and hazelnuts.
